Welcome to Hell.🔥 🤯 🤬
With our planet and democracy on fire, we need distraction and/or commiseration. Luckily, with the creator economy and a 24/7 newscycle, you have no shortage of content to consume.
But, with a firehose of information, clickbait and biased news, how do you find the good stuff? How do you know what's worth your time?
Enter the content curator–hi.👋🏻 it me.
You need backup, support, guidance, and inspiration.
But you have NO time.
Want to create and commiserate? We have you covered.
- Ever read something and shout at your screen “WTAF!” or think “Is anyone else seeing this?!”
- Are you looking for more rad creators and activators to follow?
- Do you seek out cool hacks or new tools for your process, and talk about stacks (and not just pancakes)?
- Do you talk business, money, and equality, or media, design, and censorship, all in the same breath?
- Love learning and creating but hate digging?
With tabs and to-do lists, you need a trusted editor. Consider me a sponge, but one you can ring out slowly.

Read the cliffnotes below, watch the clips, and take some action. Most of all, reframe how you talk about Abortion (and gender, and reproductive healthcare). Words matter.
Fiery FAQ
What can I expect when I read the Hot List?
The Hot List: Top 5
I highlight 5 things on a theme. It may be 5 things I wrote, or 5 writers you absolutely have to follow. This may include a variety of newsletters, long-form piece, magazine series, poetry or other non-fiction exploring the BIG questions.
My priority is to amplify work from the people in my network (aka, The Collective) first, including FLOWLab⁵ members, LinkedIn peeps, colleagues, clients, and fam. I often share social justice futurists, historians, artist, designers, writers, economists, activists, and advocates, and neurodivergent boundary pushers.
The Hot List: ICYMI
This may be a wrap up of all that happened in the world, or in my world, or maybe just a wrap up of the pieces published on this blog. Think of this as an "ICYMI" (in case you missed it) newsletter. If you only want to commit to 1 day a month, but you like what I have to say, OPEN this email.
Will you share thought leaders and creators I already know about? "Popular" thought leaders?
Sure, why not? There is so much out there you may have missed it anyway and I like to add my own context, contribute my perspective, or connect the dots to something else. I try not to bag on anyone, but no promises.
BUT, the work and writer I amplify not for the faint of heart. The Hot List is for heart-led, social justice humanitarians who want to learn, grow, and do better.
Like my blog, this is for anyone who questions EVERYTHING and for those who like "depth over breadth."
A lot of what is featured on The Hot List will be from me, curating my best of content, or from FLOWLab and members of my amazing creator community.
Who is this for?
Me, mostly. It's self-indulgent first and foremost...because I consume a LOT of content and it's gotta go somewhere.
It's of course also curated with you in mind, because I know how busy you are and how much you care about. I want to offer people a reliable place to get the goods.
Advocates, Allies, Accomplices, Creators, Writers, Researchers, Technologists, Educators, Founders, and Friends...Anyone "doing the work." If you subscribe, your part of a community who gets it and cannot stand the shenanigans. Is that you? IYKYK.
What topics are "hot"?
Besides the remixes of stuff from this blog, the contents will be...A mix. Current events, academia and economics, civics, climate and human rights activism, media literacy, anti-racism, gender equality, accessibility, designing for inclusion, entrepreneurship, tech bro culture, solidarity economy, worker cooperatives, the philanthropic industrial complex, cultural history, and anything else we (the royal "we") fancy.
The bulk of what I share will remind you the planet is burning and they're burning books, too! We're still on earth after all, in a pandemic, breathing smoke from climate catastrophes, war, poverty, all the -isms, PLUS both sea levels and white supremacy on the rise.
Is it all doom and gloom? Trauma and drama?
Actually, no. I share helpful and optimistic content as well as some purely for joy, relaxation, reflection, or leisure. In my first iterations of The Hot List, I curated a bunch of music, TikToks, and memes.
These selected newsletters, long-forms, and features are just what the 2020's dumpster-fire-decade ordered.
You already talk about the struggle, humanity's failures, and rants that go to a dark place. How will reading this help?
- 2 words: Solutions Journalism. I don't share without a CTA, a solution, or a rally cry. Solutions journalists have suggested guidelines and I adhere to this model in all of my long form research. The main one being, they state you must have at least one solution per article. I aim for more.
PLUS:
- Stop doom scrolling, and doom with intention.
- Avoid the never ending Ads and popups screaming at you.
- Skip the fake or packaged news selected by capitalists to have you ignore (waves hands) All. Of. This.
- Process all the feels, an less alone.
- Save yourself from the firehose of content coming at you daily, and get off social media.
- Learn, and be inspired by some seriously rad humans writing incredible things and doing amazing research, with community and human-centered storytelling.
If you're thinking, "This sure is a lot to process," just remember I said this is my neurodivergent, self-indulgent blog. If I can use ALL the words, you can be sure AF I will.
WARNING:
The Hot List may NSFW (not be safe for work), children, highly-sensitive people, empaths, under 18, millennials, Gen X, Z, or Boomers. parents, caregivers, pet owners, and animal lovers, people who love fresh air, and anyone who is a little bit tired.
A lot of what I share will be bonker balls. While NSFW means more than "Not Safe For Work," some of this Newsletter is what's "Not Safe For the World," because some people suck; unfortunately a lot of them are in the driver's seat making our world stupidly unsafe.
Content may make you audibly swear, shed a tear, or laugh—so you don't cry. After reading The Hot List, you may want to crack that bottle of bubbly and toast the end of the world, but at least you'll be in good company.
The world is a dumpster fire of man-made problems, so um...yeah, this mess (waves hands) was made by men (cough, cough—patriarchy).
Like I said: Welcome to hell.
